Tales Of Brave Ulysses.....

On my first day of English 1302, I felt (like all semesters) this was a new start with some fresh faces and that I could build a different reputation towards these people. I might end up being cool, or at least liked.....but all dashes of that dream were ruined when we were discussing Joseph Campbell's HEro of A Thousand Faces and how modern stories even use the formula of the classic tales and myths. It was when we were discussing Star Wars, that all hope had faded. We were discussing how the hero always denies the call at first... Professor Oaks was trying to illustrate this in Star Wars and asked if anyone knew what this was to which I said...

Yeah. Luke Skywalker refused the call of heroism to go with Obi-Wan Kenobi to Alderaan at first and then went home to his homestead where he found the charred bodies of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru whom were murdered and burnt by the Storm Troopers of the Galactic Empire. So therefore, Luke had no other option but to go save Leia with Obi-Wan.

As I heard the last words out of my mouth...I knew I had ruined my dreams of ever being thought of as something other than a Nerd to these new people. *Sigh*

But to be fair...Luke refused, but then only went home because he realized that the droids would lead the stormtroopers to his home, he didn't just go home because he was just some baby........yeah, im sorry.....
